PYRAMIDS PANORAMA 1A

Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure – this triumvirate has stood still for what seems to be since time immemorial on the Giza Necropolis a few kilometers outside present-day Cairo. Still as magnificent and mysterious as when they were first built some 4,500 years ago, they are a sight to behold indeed.

(I had taken this on a late summer afternoon when we were the last stragglers being shooed away by the camel-riding guards to get out of the complex. There goes my golden hour moment, I thought dryly. So as a parting shot, I planted the tripod with the Nikon D80 on the side of the road and started shooting a series of frames to stitch together. Suddenly, this carriage came rattling along and I thought, oh no, this is going to ruin my panorama! But then after incorporating it into the overall image, it doesn’t look so bad after all. I just wish I had waited a split second more to get the wheels completely in. Such are the moments you wish you took when you look back in hindsight! Location: Cairo, Egypt)
