High up on the winding road that the Hop-On Hop-Off bus took us from the cruise ship, we stopped for this breathtaking view of the bay in Palma, the capital of Mallorca. Centuries ago, this was a great hideout for Roman, Moorish and Berber pirates who coveted this piece of prime real estate in the Balearic Isles. The island is full of coves, beaches and cliffs on the coast, and inland you will find, amidst the pine forests, olive trees as well as palm trees. The deep blue waters of the bay made a stark contrast to this lovely landscape which is also dotted by the beige-colored structures of the surrounding buildings. I had to shoot this in panoramic mode to take in the whole scene.
