These are the wo important mosques in Istanbul that stand out from the city’s landscape. The Aya Sofya on the left was a Christian church built by Emperor Justinian in 537 AD that was converted into a Mosque when the Muslims captured the city in the 14th century then turned into a museum in 1935. Meanwhile, the Blue Mosque was built in 1609 by Sultan Ahmed I and is still in use today as a place of worship. I tried to get them together in this panorama shot from the hotel’s terrace garden overlooking the Bosphorus.
